I got some yarn at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago. I go to to the thrift store once every two weeks. I get all kinds of stuff but mostly books and craft items. The ladies who volunteer there even know me and my son. Like a lot of people I like to go shopping but Bermuda is so expensive that I do not even bother. At the thrift store I can go “crazy” and spend $10. To someone in Zimbabwe that is a lot of money, in comparison it’s like spending a dollar.
I got a skein of some super bulky yarn. I figured I could make a hat out of it. This is not really a new design, it is a modified Swirling Beanie design. I wanted the swirls to change direction and I think I achieved that. And of course the favourite of any knitted hat I make is the top.
I like knitting with bulky yarns because the projects are fast. An experienced knitter can finish this hat in three hours or less. Perfect for last minute gifts.
