My favourite thing to knit or crochet is a hat, well they are fast and easy projects. I am partial to slouchy hats. Today I will show you how to block a knitted hat. It helps give the hat a better shape when you wear it. For this tutorial I am also using a new pattern that I designed a couple of weeks ago, if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen it. It is a easy to knit hat that is very breezy and can be worn when its warm outside.
How to block a knitted hat
Fill a bucket with hot soppy water and soak your finished hat. (My hat is made of acrylic hat so the hot water will not felt it. If using wool, use cold water.)
Wring out excess water and place it on a towel.
Roll the towel to dry the hat.
Put the hat over a plat that will fit the size of your hat.
Baste the opening with a remnant of the yarn and pull it together and tie.
Dry the hat face down over a mug or cup.
Remove the basting yarn and your hat will have shaped up.
