I love wearing all kinds of hats, this is largely so because my hair is always a mess. I just do not seem to have the time to do it.
I love caps and have made several before either crochet or knit. My favourites are the cable knit ones. I have not made a sewn one before and I do not know why because it was so easy. Cutting to wearing in less than an hour. If you are looking for an easy gift this is the one.
You will need:
- 1-yard jersey material or large t-shirt
- sewing machine and or needle and yarn
- Cap pattern
Using the pattern cut two pieces using the outer fabric and two pieces for the lining.
Right sides facing sew the top part of the hat. Do this to all four pieces
Sew together the outer cap, right sides facing, aligning the seams. Do the same for the lining.
With the right sides of the cap and lining facing, sew the cap together.
Leave a small opening and pull the hat through.
Slip stitch the opening to close it.
Top stitch the hat and that is it.
