Crochet
Since going natural I have been wearing my hair in an Afro more often it feels like i am getting to know apart of me i didn’t know before.I love seeing my hair and touching it too, it feels like cotton wool, which I am not supposed to do if I am to reach my goal of growing it out. I have not quite mastered the art of protective styling on my own which means I have to go to the saloon but lately I really can’t keep a hairstyle for more than three weeks, I just have to wash it then. Of course I can use the dry shampoo but it doesn’t do the job quite as well as I would like it to do. So my option for protective styling is hats, they keep my ends tucked away.
When I was learning to crochet about two years ago, I started out by making beanie’s and berets but they just would not work with all this hair that I have now. So I designed this slouchy beanie that will accommodate my hair and still feel airy. I thought about lining the hat but because of Bermudian weather I think I would faint need to keep the air flowing.
I have uploaded the free pattern here on my blog, on Ravelry and Craftsy so feel free to download it. But if you can not crochet or don’t have the time to do it you can find the beanies on my Etsy store.
Oh, and because I am forever grateful for the people that read my blog, leave comments and send me emails, I am giving away two of the hats to two people. All you have to do is leave a comment below.
