Gardening
I have written in a few weeks, it’s always harder when I have taken a break. Planned or otherwise. First my camera would not charge, then I had an accident in the kitchen and burnt myself. Right now, I am struggling with a cold and flu. Also, I am not coping well with the Zimbabwe winter after years of Bermuda winters. I cannot seem to get warm and the sun is just not warm enough!
Last weekend we went to visit my aunts kwaGutu. I needed that. The way they live is the polar opposite of what I am used to. It would be hard for me to live like they do, they are farmers. I don’t know if I could survive it but I love the pace of their life, the fresh air and food straight from the source. I had the best tea with freshly milked milk. I am going to miss that when I am back in Bermuda.
Speaking of cold weather, I always like to wear matommy. They are tennis shoes sold by Bata that have always been there. The design has not changed for as long as I can remember. They are warm, comfortable and affordable. I love them. I always get a pair or two.
They usually come in solid colours so I decided to add some design to them. I painted t=with some fabric paint and since I have zero drawing ability I also got a stencil.
I painted them and a few minutes later they don’t look like the ones in the shops.
