Gardening
Tomorrow, April 18 is Zimbabwe’s independence day. As a child I looked forward to watching the festivities as they were happening on TV. I particularly enjoyed the displays that the school children and the armed forces did. In 1994 or 1995 I actually participated, we were “opening books” in the terraces and people watching on the other side can see the art displays on each page. For our troubles we each got a white t shirt! It was fun though.
This year I wanted to work on a craft to celebrate this year’s independence. I made another wall art using the tutorial I posted a few weeks ago on painting using a stencil. For this wall art I did not have a pre made stencil, so I downloaded a map of Zimbabwe and cut it out. Here is how I did this:
I used a piece of gold satin that I had and inserted inside the frame
I printed an outline of the map of Zimbabwe I found on Google. Using an exacto knife I cut out the inside of the map as shown below. (My knife was not as sharp as it should have been) Lay the stencil flat on the glass and paint inside the map.
Remove the stencil and let the paint dry. Your wall art is ready to be hanged.
