During the winter months my hair gets dry so fast so I have to keep moisturised and I need a butter to achieve that. It also helps if I keep my hair covered and or in a protective style. When my hair was coloured the cold air made it worse. My hair feels like dry grass. Last winter I was using Cantu Shea butter but I can not find it, everything else is just so super expensive.
I found raw Shea butter in Hamilton. I just noticed it says “Product of Africa”, which makes me believe it was packaged somewhere not in Africa. Shea trees which produce the nuts are found mostly in west and east Africa. It is actually very difficult to find shea butter in Zimbabwe.
In this form it is difficult to use. Shea butter solidifies especially when it is cold. I like using shea butter when it is creamy. Adding other oils and whipping it together makes it smoother and usually takes on the smell of the oils.
