DIY Vegetable Rack

For years I have been using big bowls to store my fruits and vegetables and it was not really neat. I decided to make my own.

The design is just basically two boxes held together by two posts.

When I went to the lumber yard they sold me off cuts so I ended paying about $15 for all my supplies. Score! It took me about an hour while Leo was napping. The lumber yard I go do cut the wood for me at no extra cost which also saves me time and labour. I do wish I had more tools so I can learn to cut all the different shapes I would like to. Someone tell my husband to buy me a drill! As a surprise of course!

Cut List

1″x 8″ x 10″  – 4 pieces

1″ x 2″x 14″ – 16 pieces

1″ x 3″ x 12″ – 2 pieces

Instructions

First make the boxes. Nail and glue four 14″ slats to the 10″ sides evenly. Then two at the back and two at the front.  I made the front slots closer together so I can reach into it.

Attach the 12″ posts on the sides of the boxes, so that there is space between the boxes. This way you can use the bottom box for your leafy vegetables. I used nail and glues but if you have a drill use screws.

Paint or stain your vegetable rack. I still have a lot of the chalk paint so I used that to paint the rack.

So I can write on it if I wanted to do so.
