Once a week I take Leo to a art class. It lasts about 45 minutes so it is just long enough. The art school uses the Montessori method of teaching and the students are given five different stations from which they can choose. Half of the stations teach them how to paint and the other half are creative play stations. This week one of the stations was a homemade puzzle.
The idea is really simple and I wanted to share it with other parents. You will hardly have to pay for the materials.
You will need and plain piece of paper, can be any size really, a marker and puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces can be anything you want from your house. I used some of Leo’s toys and kitchen utensil.
Trace each puzzle on paper and let the children figure out where the puzzle pieces go.
You can have the children look for the puzzle pieces themselves.
It occurred to me that I could use Leo’s table as a puzzle mat. I could trace anything with chalk and I would have a puzzle.
How easy is that?!
