Headband Tutorial

I am excited to share this easy tutorial. When it gets hot all you want to do is get hair away from your face and headbands do that very well. Headbands are generally inexpensive and I usually find them on sale  but if you can make one yourself, why not.

Headbands make use of very little fabric, which make them perfect for using up all those odd pieces of fabric that you would otherwise throw away. They are so easy to make, they make perfect projects for teaching children to sew. You can make a couple of them for friends and family as gifts as they take very little time and effort to make.

Supplies

Instructions

Cut two fabric pieces, one measuring 12″ by 20″ and another 20″ by 4″. These measurements can be adjusted to fit any head.
Fold the bigger piece in half, right sides facing and stitch.

Turn the tube inside out and press the seam.

Using a large stitch on your machine, gather the unstitched ends together.

Take the smaller fabric, on the shorter ends press inwards about 1/2 ” on both ends.

Fold the fabric right sides facing and sew on the longer edge.

Turn the tube inside out and press the seam.

Pin the elastic to the gathered edge.

And stitch.

Thread the other end of the elastic through the smaller tube and stitch it on the other gathered edge.

Push the gathered edges into the tube and slip stitch to close the seam.

Your headband will be ready at this point.
