Disclaimer: The sauce used in this post was given to me by Efoods. The opinions in this post are my own.
A few days after I got home, Efoods, a Zimbabwean company that makes sauces under the brand name Mr Sauce reached out to me. It was for my kapenta post, they wanted to use it for one of their campaigns. The last time a Zimbabwean brand just lifted my picture and recipe and presented it as their own . I was hay that Efoods asked me if they could use my image and then they gave me their sauces to try.
I did not know about their company before, they used to make sauces in sachets for restaurants. They started making the sauces for sale in shops a few years ago, I had seen their product but did not think much about it.
One thing that is very noticeably different from the last time I was here, is that there are a lot more Zimbabwean products on the shelf. I guess the import restrictions have worked for some sectors.
I love the packaging of their sauces, it just makes me happy. More importantly their sauces are made with real ingredients like real tomatoes and you can pronounce the names of all the ingredients that they use. All the ingredients are listed on the packaging as well as nutritional information. The company also sources most of their ingredients locally. I have made some sauces from scratch before, so I know what to expect. These sauces taste close to homemade. No crazy red colours or weird taste.
I used the Sticky BBQ Basting sauce to make some meatballs. I love making meatballs , they are easy to make and so delicious.
