One of my favorite things to do is to read. I like to read anything I can get my hands on, books – fictional and non-fictional, magazines, blogs and newspapers. I like whatever I read to be light, entertaining and educational. I do not like politics and celebrity gossip, I read just enough to stay in the loop but it is something I can do without. The blogs I read regularly have nothing in common just the things I like to read about and some because I like the way the bloggers write their articles. Here are my top blogs and why I like them. These are in no particular order:
- Musings of a housewife – This is Jo-Lynne Shane’s blog where she blogs about her family. I just love the way she writes her blogs, she makes reading interesting. If she wrote a book I would buy it. Jo-Lynne’s makes some of her food using Ina Garten’s recipes who also happens to be one of my favorites too.
- Afrobella – I started reading Patrice’s blog because she is a natural hair blogger but what I like about her blog is that there is more to it than hair. She talks about self image, art and music and beauty.
- Her Zimbabwe – This is a blog written by many contributors from a Zimbabwean perspective. The founder Fungai, discusses issues that affect Zimbabwean women that would otherwise not be discussed. I like that even when I do not agree with what I am reading; it makes me think and see things in another way.
- Craft Passion – Joanne is one of the most creative persons on the internet. She is always making beautiful things; I want to be like her when I grow up!
- Girl with curves – I like Tanesha’s style – she is always well put together and classy.
- Erica Bunker – I visit Erica’s website all the time because she makes beautiful clothes for herself, she inspires and motivates me.
- Mimi G Style – Mimi also makes beautiful clothes and she has many free and paid tutorials that are easy to follow and will make you look like a seasoned seamstress.
- Techzim – This is a technology news and blog site that focuses on Zimbabwe. I read it to keep up with what is going on in Zimbabwe technology wise and there is no politics on this website which is good thing for me.
- Curlynikki – This is a natural hair blog. This is the go to site for all the people transitioning to natural hair and those who are already natural. Nikki, the blog owner curates articles and YouTube videos on the site from different people. She also writes about her family, which is always a good read.
- U-Handbag – This is Lisa Lam’s website. It is a bag making website, she sells all the hardware you need to make a bag as well as patterns. Her book was the first sewing book I bought. On her blog you can also find tutorials on bag making. I am looking forward to see the children’s clothes she has designed.
These are my favorite blogs and when you mash them all up you will find little bits and pieces of me. Let me know which blogs are your favorites in the comments section.
