I like making my own home art, because I know that how I do it will be unique just like me. I am always looking for ideas in different places, I am by no means an “artist” so whatever I decide to do it has to be really simple. I saw this tutorial online and I liked the idea. I did mine differently. Here is how I did it:
I bought an old frame at the thrift shop for $5, you can use a new one if you wanted to.
Spray paint it any colour you want, I painted mine white to give it a fresh look.
Cut foam board to the size that will fit inside the frame.
Cover the foam board with a fabric of your choice by gluing it to the foam board.
Print out the letters or pictures that you want to make the pin art from. Make sure the size you choose is the correct size for you frame or canvas. Mine says “Mauya” which means welcome in Shona.
Cut out the words and trace them on the fabric covered form board.
Pin the push pins onto the traced letters.
Put the foam board into the frame.
Cover the back of the frame and you are now free to hang your art in your desired place. Mine is in the hallway.
