Summer in Bermuda is brutal. I sweat so much that most days I actually just prefer to be at home. There is also the electricity bill which sky-rockets during the summer months because of the air conditioning. I actually prefer the cooler months.
My husband’s shirt end up with the dirt ring which is made worse by the weather. If you just wash the shirts the ring will not come out. I have tried different stain removers but they do not work. The only thing that seemed to work thus far was good old scrubbing which I hate. I have better things to do with my time, like playing with my son.Truth is I distaste any kind of housework, I do it because I have to. If I can find a way to make the work go faster, I make it a mission to find it.
I found a recipe that uses hydrogen peroxide to remove stains from clothes and it worked.
The lighting was different when I took the pictures, but you can see the ring around the collar is gone in the second picture.
To make this stain remover you will need:
- 1 part dawn dish-washing soap
- 2 parts hydrogen peroxide
- 1/2 part baking soda
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and scrub the mixture into the stain. As I was scrubbing in the stain remover I could see the dirt come off. Leave for one to three hours and launder as usual.
