Simplest skirt ever

Each time I go to the fabric’s store I look into the remnants bin and usually I find something good for leass than half the price. So yesterday I found a nice matte jersey knit fabric, it was almost a yard. At the time I had no idea what I was going to make with it but I just loved the feel of it. I knew whatever I did with it I wanted to make the most of the fabric. So I came up with this:

It really is simple to do, took me less than thirty minutes to make up. If you would like to try it here are the instructions
What you will need
2 yards stretch fabric, measure yourself first before buying the fabric
Scissors
matching sewing thread and other sewing notions
1/4 inch width elastic to fit your waist
sewing machine or sewing needles

  1. Measure your waist and divide that by two, this is the top part of your skirt
  2. Measure from your belly button to your desired length, for me I wanted to use all of the fabric so my length was determined by my fabric
  3. The bottom width is your waist measurement/2 and you add 3″ to both sides
  4. Draft your pattern using the above measurents as shown below
  5. Cut your two panels and stitch the two sides right sides facing
  6. Fold over the waist to create a casing for your elastic and stitch around
  7. Pull through elastic and close the casing
  8. I decided not to hem my skirt but this is optional

NB – I used a strech fabric so the draft pattern has no seam allowance, I did that to give the skirt negative ease.
