It is now summer and its hot. Sometimes I just do not want to do my hair and I want to tuck it away in a hat. Problem is most of my hats are made of wool and they just will not work so I decided to make a turban hat with knit fabric.I looked for a tutorial on-line and could not find one with everything I wanted so I took a bit of everything I liked to come up with this tutorial.
Materials
1/4 yard knit fabric
Sewing essentials
Instructions
Cut two rectangles one that mneasure 20″ by 13″ and another one that is 4″ by 5″
Fold the big piece so that it measures 10″ by 13″ and sew a curve on the open side and trim the excess fabric. Leave a 1″ opening at the top.
Hem the bottom of the hat using a desired method
Tuck about an inch of the back seam and pin in place three times.
Stitch in the ditch to secure the tucks.
Fold the small rectangle so that it measures 2″ by 5 ” and stitch on the long side. Turn the tube inside out.
Pull the tab through the opening making sure the seem is on the inside. Stitch the ends together.
Pin the stiched ends of the tab to the opening and slip stitch to close the opening.
Cut any loose threads and you are done with your turban hat.

I came across your website and think I will try the turban. I have been looking for chemo cap patterns and your looks like it might work! Thanks for all your efforts.
Happy to help.
Thank you so much for posting this pattern! I just had a bilateral mastectomy and need to have chemotherapy. I haven’t been able to find exactly what I was looking for in turban patterns either. And some from the store aren’t my cup of tea either. Now I’ll be able to match my wardrobe. Many thanks!
You are welcome Cicely. Get well soon. I will remember you in my prayers.
I have been making Adult Turban Hats for Cancer Patients and take them to a Cancer Center for the last five years ~ today, I was asked to make a Child’s Turban and your pattern is easier then the one I use. So I will be able to make a couple for this young girl. Thanks for the Information!
Thank you Val for giving your time in helping at the cancer centre. I happy you are able to use my tutorial for this.
