Upcycling, Art and the Olympics

I feel so bad its almost been a month since I last updated this blog. My life has been somewhat crazy but I think everything is under control now. One of the reasons why I did not post is that I have been making a ton of stuff for an upcoming festival. Anyway just wanted to share some of the things I have been working on.
Its been three weeks now and I am still excited, I reupholstered a chair. As you can see from the before picture the fabric was now dingy, I could not stand it. My mother had this material for sometime and she gave it to me last year when I went home, I hope she will be pleased with how I used it. I know its highly personalised but I love looking at it, it makes me happy.

I have to confess, I am a Pinterest addict. I get so many ideas for things to make and make them! I love it because it allows me to “window” shop online in a fast and easy way for things I could never afford, like a $12 000 dress! Me and my husband we love art, in its many forms, our house has art mostly from Zimbabwe and I am always looking for more. I saw this DIY doily art on pinterest and decided to give it a go. It is so easy but looks like I did a lot.

Here is skirt I made from a dress. I love the colour too.

End of July the Olympics will start and to show my support for team Zimbabwe I made the beanie hat in the Zimbabwe colours. I know at first glance the colors look like the rastafarian colors but they are Zimbabwe’s colours in the order that they are in on the flag. If you want to buy this hat its available in my etsy store.

Go Zimbabwe!!
